Kochi Coin Necklace with Rare Temple Tokens
An intact Kochi tribal necklace from Afghanistan or the surrounding region. These silver coin necklaces are not in and of themselves either rare or common, but to find one made with worn temple tokens is extremely unusual. These tokens were made for use at temples and mosques in northern India in the 19th century and very difficult to find.
The necklace itself dates to the 20th century. The coins are silver but the other metal components are not.
Length with the closure together, approximately 16 inches.
